There are 4 different types/categories of next generation vehicles. These include electric vehicles (EV) which is the topic that we are focusing on, Hybrid vehicles (HV), Plug in Hybrid vehicles (PHVs) and Finally Fuel Cell vehicles (FCVs).
Next Generation vehicles are defined as environmentally friendly vehicles.
Electric vehicles:
Electric vehicles are powered by an electric motor which completely stops CO2 emission from the car. electric vehicles are a lot more efficient and simple, electric vehicles contain less parts than your average fossil fuel car.
Hybrid vehicles:
Hybrid vehicles are made up of a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The electric motor is used when starting and driving at low speed while the gasoline engine is used when the car excellerates.
Plug in Hybrid vehicles:
Plug in hybrid vehicles are used in a combination of a gasoline engine, electric motor and a battery. The electric motor is used for long distances and when the charge is getting low the gasoline engine will take over and charge the electric motor at the same time.
Fuel cell vehicles:
Fuel cell vehicles are powered by an electric motor which has its energy provided by the chemical reaction of oxygen and hydrogen. Because the electric motor is powered by a chemical reaction only water is emitted in the process.
